Keeping the Tradition

At the heart of Sacred Tree of Life is the commitment to safeguard and revitalize the ceremonial lifeways that connect us to the sacred—through land, lineage, and spirit.

Our Ceremony Preservation program supports the intergenerational transmission of traditional Indigenous ceremonies, songs, protocols, and sacred knowledge that have sustained our people since time immemorial. These aren’t relics of the past—they are living, breathing practices that continue to heal, guide, and empower our communities today.

We partner with elders, knowledge keepers, and spiritual leaders to ensure that ceremonies such as sweat lodge, naming rites, coming-of-age ceremonies, seasonal offerings, and healing songs are practiced, documented (when culturally appropriate), and passed on with integrity.

This work includes:

  • Ceremonial Gatherings on sacred land, held in accordance with tribal customs and supported by community-led logistics.

  • Elder Honorariums and Apprenticeships, creating space for young people to learn through direct, respectful mentorship.

  • Cultural Documentation Projects, where oral teachings, songs, and plant knowledge are archived with consent to protect them from erasure while honoring spiritual boundaries.

  • Ceremonial Supply Networks, connecting practitioners with sustainable access to traditional medicines like sage, sweetgrass, tobacco, and cedar.

  • Protection of Ceremonial Spaces, including land acquisition, ecological stewardship, and the physical building of lodges, arbors, and altars.

Ceremony, for us, is not performance—it is prayer in action, medicine in motion, and a sacred agreement between people, place, and spirit. Through this work, we ensure that the sacred continues to burn bright, not just for us—but for the generations yet to come.
